"Port meets mainland" goes down well in south Germany
Wilhelmshaven, 2 July 2018 – The WWK Arena in Augsburg, the Energiepark Hirschaid near Bamberg, and the DB Intermodal Services depot in Ulm/Dornstadt, were the latest locations for a “Port meets Mainland” event on 19, 20 and 28 June. Around 150 representatives of the logistics industry, as well as importing and exporting companies, attended the events at the three locations in response to a joint invitation from Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven JadeWeserPort-Marketing, EUROGATE and TFG Transfracht.
The focus was again on Germany’s only deep sea container port at Wilhelmshaven with its opportunities for optimising international logistics chains. Oliver Bergk, General Manager Sales EUROGATE presented the company as the leading, shipping-company independent container terminal operator with twelve locations in Europe. The main focus was on the EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven with the connected shipping lines in the Europe-Asia service, the shipping companies which offer the market services for the destination on the Jade, as well as the portfolio of additional services provided by EUROGATE subsidiaries. The existing suprastructure for the handling of mega container ships with the world’s largest container bridges in Wilhelmshaven provides an attractive alternative when planning logistics concepts for the fast and reliable transport of containerised goods from port to customers. The network of efficient hinterland connections via road and rail required for this process was presented by Michael Moehlmann and Ingo Meidinger, Sales Managers at Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven JadeWeserPort-Marketing. The exposition of the in situ conditions was rounded off by a presentation of the generous amount of space available and the current projects in the Freight Village, such as the Volkswagen Group packaging centre scheduled for completion in the first quarter 2019.
Christian Süß, South Region Manager in Augsburg and Bamberg, as well as Marion Jäger, Regional Sales Manager in Ulm, presented the portfolio of services provided by TFG Transfracht in the context of Wilhelmshaven. Wilhelmshaven has been integrated since May last year in TFG Transfracht’s AlbatrosExpress network. The market leader in containerised seaport hinterland transport now offers over 100 weekly services to and from JadeWeserPort, and boasts very high flexibility and the densest network for hinterland transport by rail. The TFG Transfracht terminals in Augsburg, Bamberg, Burghausen, Munich, Nuremberg and Regensburg provide the logistics industry in Bavaria with direct connections to Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven.
The event in Bamberg was supported by baymodal Bamberg GmbH, the terminal operator of Container-Treffpunkt Oberfranken. The company General Manager Karsten Kessel welcomed the guests to the Energiepark Hirschaid and introduced the topic of the evening. He explained the services, the good connections and the benefits of the terminal location.
